Summer Term 2024/25
Summer term is here!
Longer, warmer days are here as we look forward to a a term packed with exciting new topics, trips and learning.
Our Christian Values
During the Summer term, our Christian values are endurance and creation, followed by wisdom and justice in the second half of the term.
As Christians we believe that though we may find things difficult from time to time, God will give us the strength to endure and through endurance we will succeed. As a class we are learning to value knowledge and wisdom and be guided by truth, helping us to make good choices.
Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love him. James 1:12
Blessed is the one who finds wisdom, and the one who gets understanding, for the gain from her is better than gain from silver and her profit better than gold. She is more precious than jewels, and nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are ways of pleasantness, and all her paths are peace.
Proverbs 3:13-18
Our roles and responsibilities
Meet our school councillors, sports councillors eco councillors and Beacons who were all democratically voted in by their peers. Our Beacon group support our school in developing Christian distinctiveness and promote our school Christian Values.
In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven. - Matthew 5:16
Class Novel
We are finishing off our class novel chosen in a vote, Harley Hitch and the Iron Forest and will choose another just as soon as we find out if Harley can save the forest from the terrible fungus and giant slug!! Barn Owls will get to hear the 'blurb' from several books before voting for their favourite, democracy in action!

In our first half term we will be reading 'Where the Forest Meets the Sea' by Jeannie Baker giving the children the opportunity to explore the rainforest and write a non-chronologocal report. This is followed by an explanation text in the second half term as we read 'Blue John' by Berlie Doherty.
Our routine will include spelling and grammar, handwriting and guided reading sessions. Daily reading at home continues to be essential at KS2 and we would ask that you read regularly at home with your child to develop a love of reading, to develop new vocabulary and strengthen writing skills.Whilst listening to your child, ask questions about what has happened so far, characters thoughts and motives and make accurate predictions based on the text. As well as our guided reading and class reading sessions, we will endeavour to hear all our Barn Owls read at least once a week. Our Barn Owls use our class padlet to share what they are reading, make recommendations and develop our love of reading.
